Hi!
Today’s video conference world seems to be split between personal and business Apps. In the business side, I’m a fan an avid user of Microsoft Teams, no suprises here.
However the personal side has more options, I’ve seen a lot of people using WhatsApp, Instagram and the super uber popular Zoom. Disclaimer here: Zooms seems to be the worst in terms of security. But, it also looks like a campaign to kill the new and shinny one in the market.
And what about Skype? I’ve been a big fan of Skype, however in the past 5 years it slowly went into the darkness. You may want to blame Microsoft, however, I think that this is mostly because the sum of lack of usability, not being cool, and more factors.
One feature that I really like from Skype is: Meet Now.

It’s easy – simply create a meeting link, share the link with participants and join the call. No sign ups required. If you don’t have Skype installed, we will open Skype for you on the Web. Invite up to 50 people to your call and enjoy unlimited free meetings on Skype.
Skype Meet Now
– No sign ups
– No downloads
– No time limits
It’s super cool, and works with 3 steps
- Navigate to https://www.skype.com/en/free-conference-call/
- Create a meeting
- Share the link
- Done !
All web based, so you don’t need to install the Skype App.
However, if you also install the Skype App, you will have
Record your call and save it for later review
Focus and engage in your online meeting without any distractions. Record your call for later reviews and note taking. We store your recording for up to 30 days.
Blur your background before entering the call
On the go or just didn’t have time to prepare for your video meeting, simply turn on the background blur feature and worry less.
Share your screen whenever necessary
Easily share presentations, work materials or designs in your conference call. Collaborate and review your work in the chat.
As I said, super cool !
Happy coding!
Greetings
