#SQL – SQL Server Loves #Linux (Yes and today is not April fools day)

Hi !

I think that I’ll have more time once I get internet at home, however everyday I found new stuff to do. So I have left the blog, but not internet, where I still find amazing stuff, like today’s one:

Yes, it seems like a joke but is real, so freaking good !!! I use to spend lot of time with SQL Server in my days as an “Enterprise Architect”, I really like the product. I was aware of the near release of SQL Server 2016, and some of the improvements, like 30-100x performance increase for in-memory process.

However when I read Scott Guthrie line, I was shocked

Today I’m excited to announce our plans to bring SQL Server to Linux as well. This will enable SQL Server to deliver a consistent data platform across Windows Server and Linux, as well as on-premises and cloud. We are bringing the core relational database capabilities to preview today, and are targeting availability in mid-2017.

Canonical, Red Hat and other big names seems to be there to support this effort. And the main objective of Microsoft is every time more and more clear:

Microsoft will be the number 1 Cross Platform Solution Provider

And cross platform is really CROSS PLATFORM !

Greetings @ Toronto
