What’s In This Beta?
MSDN is testing two new features with this home page beta.
| Homepages for Specific Countries
If you’re an MSDN subscriber, the beta version of the home page will now recognize you, giving you information and letting you access your benefits right from the home page.
The home page beta also automatically redirects French and U.K. readers to home pages with content tailored to their language and region, based on their browser settings. This continues work that we have been doing to make the site more relevantāand easier to understandāregardless of where you live or work.
In the Beta, we currently support:
- United States (default)
U.S. customers will see information for events, seminars, and webcasts specific to the United States. In this beta, many customers who live outside of the United States will see this page, too.
Note: If your browser is not set to either English (United Kingdom) [en-gb] or French (France) [fr-fr], you will see the home page for the United States.
- United Kingdom
In addition to the bulk of information that applies to developers worldwide, this beta will show local highlights for the United Kingdom.
- France
The French home page will contain French translations of much of the same contentāboth headlines and the articles themselvesāthat are shown on the English version of the home page. Further down the page, you’ll be able to see current and upcoming events, seminars, and webcasts specific to a French audience.
Even if you’re not in France or the United Kingdom, you can still see how this beta home page works.
You can try out this functionality by switching your browser language settings between U.S. English, U.K. English, and French. To do this in Internet Explorer 6, choose Tools, Internet Options, select the General tab, and then choose Languages. Add English (United States) [en-us], English (United Kingdom) [en-gb], and French (France) [fr]. Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to move the Language you want to experiment with to the top. Then, when you visit the MSDN Home Page Beta, the page will automatically select the right page for the language you selected for your browser.
After trying the global home pages feature out, be sure to go back and set your language preference back to the way it originally was, then send us your feedback.

| My MSDN
My MSDN is a gateway to a personalized view of Microsoft’s online resources for developers: articles, knowledge base bulletins, webcasts, and downloads. With My MSDN, resources available on MSDN are intelligently filtered to display content on topics you’re most interested in. As My MSDN grows, it will become the first place you’ll want to look for information, solutions, and other resources from Microsoft.
For this beta, try setting your preferences to view news, events, how-to articles, and webcasts for language and technology topics that are important to you. Let us know how good of a job My MSDN did in finding the information you need.
