After Excel, OneNote is perhaps the 2nd best application of the Microsoft Office suite. Today I found myself in those rare moments where I had to go through hardware serial numbers and put them in a digital storage.
Well, OneNote has a very powerful feature which is the ability to perform optical character recognition (OCR) in each one of the images that stick in a note. I.e., that if you take a picture with the phone, you stick it in OneNote, and you’ll have the text in one click.
In the image below, you can see how from a picture, OneNote gives the possibility to copy the text from the same (the text that recognizes with OCR)
Once you have it on the Clipboard, and you can access it. In my case as well as the serial number, you have copied it to the clipboard

And OneNote also indexes the text of images automatically. If at any time you do a search and the result is “within an image”, as highlight you it as in the following image.
