2 days ago I mentioned the launch of a new version of Team Foundation Server Power Tools for Team Foundation Server 2010. One of the options that are less used in this tool is the ability to directly interact with our Lync or Live Messenger contacts from Team Explorer in Visual Studio 2010panel.

If you do not have configured our messaging system in the Power Tools the first thing we see when we connect to a Team Project will be a list of users like this, where we can perform at the level of Team Foundation, but not at the level of IM:

To enable integration with an instant messaging system, select the node [Team Members], deploy the contextual menu and then select the tab [Instant Messaging]. At this point we must complete the data with the email address which we use.

And ready, the next time we open Visual Studio 2010 and we have implemented our IM client, we can already see the list of actions available for Team Foundation and IM contacts
