Thanks for the great feedback on this topic. Today, I’ll share a typical Monday Routine for me
Plan my weekly Focus Time and Time Away.
I used to do this manually, now thanks to My Analytics this is just 2 clicks. And, also fairly accurate. You can do this in the My Analytics site, I’m an Outlook person so, in the main Insight panel I access to this 2 options
Plan your time away
Focus Time every day
In example, Focus Time will show the following screen. Here we can automatically schedule 1-2 hours per day to focus. Just click [Book time now] and it will find empty spots in your calendar for this.
This is super awesome, and also super good for our well-being.
Microsoft Research and the importance of breaks and focus time
If someone ask you “Why do you have this Focus time?”, and they expect a more formal answer, this may help. Microsoft Research. They shared a set of articles about the importance of work breaks and “workplace detachment and reattachment” as part of the Microsoft Research group. This information is available here.
If you work with colleagues in different time zones, or you work outside your working hours, you may want to delay the delivery of an email to fit into the appropriate working hours. In example, if try to send a colleague living in Australia, I’ll get a “Delay Delivery” Inline suggestion.
You can even enable this behavior as the default one, in Insight Settings.
So, a simple check and you may save a colleague to read a new email at night or early morning.
BTW, you may avoid emails at all ! more on that on other posts.
If you are looking forward to test the new Microsoft Lists (see references), and you are in First Release of office Microsoft 365, there is an easy way to access to Lists. In 2 clicks, you may have access to this:
You need to select OneDrive, from the Office 365 menu, and change the [onedrive] part of the url for [lists].
In today’s episode it’s time to give some time to Office 365 services. A few years ago this was a task which will only involve a couple of slides, nowadays it gives us to talk over 90 minutes and much more. Juan Carlos Quijano (@jc_quijano) joined me, and we spent a first half of the episode talking about our experience as users and the 2nd half talking and describing each of the services of the platform.
In this podcast also premieres the news section of Sergio Mabres. Sergio performs a weekly summary of technology news that is really worth taking a look at.
As always, I hope you enjoy it and apologize for the mistakes (if any).
