[#ALM] ALM para Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Buenas,

los amigos de la edición avanzada de Outlook, es decir Microsoft CRM estarán más que contentos, ahora ya tienen un punto de partida para gestionar el ciclo de vida cuando se desarrollen aplicaciones para esta plataforma. Se ha liberado un whitepaper que describe como trabajar con los proyectos de CRM dentro de Visual Studio y como colaborar con los mismos utilizando Team Foundation Server.

Si bien el inicio de este post puede tener un tono de ironía, he de reconocer que MS CRM es un producto muy bueno. Olvidándonos del CRM propiamente dicho, la plataforma XRM provee una base robusta y completa para desarrollar aplicaciones sobre la misma. En días como los actuales, donde el TTM de las aplicaciones es fundamental, contar con una plataforma que nos de un quick start muy rápido es fundamental, y CRM lo hace.

Espero durante los siguientes días, poder contactar con la gente de CRM de Avanade para que me den su opinión al respecto. ;)

[#TFS2012] New Update with incredible colors a cascoporro!

Buenas,

Oh I get more happy than a small child when I see an update of this type: new colorful and new layouts in the Team Foundation Server 2012 of Web view.

If you have an account on Team Foundation Service you can see it already, and while Brian Harry gives a full list of changes in this update there are 2 that are important for my.

  • Can now differentiate the WorkItem type in the backlog thanks to the same color. What looks like a simple thing, is extremely useful. So far, thanks to Council’s Edu what we did was put the prefix BUG – in the scope of type Bug to separate them in the PBIs. With this layout is finished as a prefix useless to the WIs.

  • Now in our board have the capability of
  • see tasks only for one person. That only leaves visible the tasks of the person. Mola
  • in the view you can see the current sprint, or previous ones. Which is also appreciated ;)

[#TFS2012] Nuevo Update con colorines a cascoporro !!! (o a cholón)

oh me pongo más contento que un niño pequeño cuando veo una actualización de este tipo: nuevos colorines y nuevos layouts en la vista Web de Team Foundation Server 2012.

Si tienes una cuenta en Team Foundation Service lo puedes ver desde ya, y si bien Brian Harry da un listado completo de los cambios en este update hay 2 que son importantes para mi.

  • Ahora puedes diferenciar el tipo de WorkItem en el backlog gracias al color del mismo. Esto que parece una cosa simple, es extremadamente útil. Hasta ahora, gracias a consejo de Edu lo que hacíamos nosotros era poner el prefijo BUG – en los workitems de tipo Bug para separar los mismos de los PBIs. Con este layout se acabó lo de poner un prefijo inútil en los WIs.

  • Ahora en nuestro board tenemos la capacidad de
  • ver las tareas solo para una persona. Eso solo deja visibles las tasks de la persona. Mola
  • en la vista puedes ver el sprint actual, o los anteriores. Cosa que también se agradece ;)

[#VS2012] PowerStory for #PowerPoint with #TFS2012 (I)

Tools for the creation of WireFrames are many, perhaps too many. Now, if say me that name a quickly probably the first that comes to mind is Balsamiq. It is not for WireFrames to 100% but it serves the purpose. With the arrival of DEV11 (VS2012 and TFS2012), the friends of Redmond made a very timid approach to prototyping tools with StoryBoards for PowerPoint. The idea was very well, but it came in something that promises a lot but it accomplishes little.

Now on the other hand have an idea very similar but squeezed 100%: PowerStory. The basis of PoweStory is simple; “using PowerPoint to tell stories related with User Stories“. What definition is already a great goal. It is using PowerPoint to what has been created. The idea is that the stories are “painted” in PowerPoint are replacement requirements, user stories, etc.; Since a visually may represent a client needs.

Note:Delicate theme, pick up a need and raise it in visual mode, maybe we are ahead of the implementation of the same. That sure is a complaint of purists, in my case I prefer this to anything.

I return to that I miss. Another interesting point that incorporates this mode of “telling stories” is that from them is generate the Test Cases necessary to validate the same. And if we finally believe in this environment 100% integrated with Team Foundation Server, as it is almost a nirvana (one of the little ones).

[#VS2012] PowerStory para #PowerPoint integrado con #TFS2012 (I)

Buenas.

Herramientas para la creación de WireFrames hay muchas, tal vez demasiadas. Ahora bien, si me dicen que nombre una rápidamente seguramente la primera que me viene a la mente es Balsamiq. No es para WireFrames al 100% pero cumple el objetivo. Con la llegada de DEV11 (VS2012 y TFS2012), los amigos de Redmond hicieron un acercamiento muy tímido hacia las herramientas de prototipado con StoryBoards para PowerPoint. La idea estaba muy bien, pero se quedó en algo que promete mucho pero cumple poco.

Ahora bien, por otra parte tenemos una idea muy parecida pero exprimida al 100%: PowerStory. La base de PoweStory es simple; “utilizar PowerPoint para contar historias relacionadas con User Stories”. Lo que en definición ya es un golazo. Es usar PowerPoint para lo que ha sido creado. La idea es que las historias que se “pintan” en PowerPoint son el reemplazo de requerimientos, user stories, etc; ya que de una forma visual pueden representar las necesidades de un cliente.

Nota: Tema delicado este, al recoger una necesidad y plantearla en modo visual, tal vez estamos adelantando la implementación de la misma. Eso seguro que es una queja de los puristas, en mi caso prefiero esto a nada.

Retomo que me pierdo. Otro punto interesante que incorpora este modo de “contar historias” es que a partir de las mismas se generan los Test Cases necesarios para validar las mismas. Y si finalmente pensamos en este entorno 100% integrado con Team Foundation Server, pues es casi un nirvana (uno de los pequeñitos).

Esta semana lo tengo complicado pero veré de sacar un tiempo para probar y escribir sobre la idea. Un video para entrar en calor:

[#TFS2012] New version of TFS 2012.2 Power Tools

Buenas,

hus arrives the Update 2 from the Power Tools for TFS2012, without any novelty. More importantly, perhaps mention more there is no “Backup / Restore” capacity at the server level, since it is incorporated into the product.

But if one important thing: this VERSION works with TFS012 and VS2012 UPDATE 2

The previous version worked only with Update 1, this version is updated to Update 2 (finally!)

[#TFS2012] Nueva version de TFS 2012.2 Power Tools

así llega el Update 2 de las Power Tools para TFS2012, sin ninguna novedad. Lo más importante es tal vez mencionar que no hay más la capacidad de “Restore / Backup” a nivel server, ya que se incorpora dentro del producto.

Pero si una cosa importante: ESTA VERSION FUNCIONA CON TFS012 Y VS2012 UPDATE 2

La versión anterior solo funcionaba con el Update 1, esta versión se actualiza para el Update 2 (por fin !!!!)

[#TFS2012] VSTFS protocol (if with http:// you wasn’t enough, now this)

Remember, whenever you think that a version of Visual Studio + Team Foundation already has everything you need, will approach a client with a question that breaks you schemes. In this case, the question is irrelevant, what matters is the response:

The solution is to use the Protocol VSTFS (vstfs: / /…)

This feature exists from a couple of versions ago and basically allowing is to access an element of TFS directly when you open Visual Studio. A clear example of this functionality can see you on the homepage of Team Foundation Service in the option “Open new instance of Visual Studio”

This link syntax is as follows

do vstfs: / / / Framework/TeamProject/< Tool Id >? url = https % 3a % 2f % 2f < user Id >.visualstudio.com%2fDefaultCollection

This action opens a new instance of the IDE and directly connects to the TP. Using VSTFS protocol syntax, we can also do many more actions, for example

  • Open a WorkItem
  • Access to Source Control in a particular file
  • etc

All available actions are processed using the Linking Service TFS. The LS is a service that basically allows from unique identifier for an item in TFS, the URI complete to access it. And if not starting from a URI, to know the id of the device that represents the same.

So now you know, if for some strange reason, you need the IDE Help opening in certain elements, Linking Service together with the Protocol VSTFS may you help.

[#TFS2012] VSTFS protocol (si con http:// no te era suficiente, ahora esto)

recuerda, cada vez que pienses que una versión de Visual Studio + Team Foundation ya tiene todo lo que necesitas, se acercará un cliente con una pregunta que te rompe los esquemas. En este caso, la pregunta es irrelevante, lo importante es la respuesta:

La solución está en utilizar el protocolo VSTFS (vstfs://…..)

Esta característica existe desde hace un par de versiones y básicamente, lo que permite es acceder a un elemento de TFS directamente cuando se abre Visual Studio. Un ejemplo claro de esta funcionalidad lo podemos ver en el homepage de Team Foundation Service en la opción “Open new instance of Visual Studio”

La sintaxis de este link es la siguiente

vstfs:///Framework/TeamProject/<Tool Id>?url=https%3a%2f%2f<user Id>.visualstudio.com%2fDefaultCollection

Esta acción abre una nueva instancia del IDE y conecta al TP directamente. Utilizando la sintaxis del protocolo VSTFS, podemos además hacer muchas más acciones, por ejemplo

  • Abrir un WorkItem
  • Acceder al Source Control en un archivo determinado
  • etc

Todas las acciones disponibles se procesan utilizando el Linking Service de TFS. El LS es un servicio que basicamente permite a partir de identificador único de un elemento de TFS, conocer la URI completa para acceder al mismo. Y en el caso contrario a partir de una URI, conocer el id del artefacto que representa la misma.

Así que ya sabes, si por algún motivo extraño, necesitas que el IDE te ayude abriéndose en determinados elementos, el Linking Service junto con el protocolo VSTFS puede serte de ayuda.

[#TFS2012] HowTo: Planning a Team Foundation Server 2012 deploy

When you have to install a collaboration with Team Foundation Server environment, questions always arise as

  • TFS version should I install?
  • I reached with a Single Server installation, or should I separate data server and application layer?
  • Do I need Sharepoint?, or Reporting Services?
  • How can I measure the hardware in each layer?
  • I believe one or more dedicated servers build?
  • …

In addition to these questions, it is time to start to define a strategy for the Organization of Team Projects, here the questions are style

  • I think a single Team Project Collection for the entire organization?
  • I think different PCTs? for example, separating into functional areas
  • If I remove the PCTs, do I organize how modules common to all areas?
  • If I leave a single TPC would how to assure the isolation of the code between different Team Projects?
  • …

Starting with these schemes can be something that consume you time and do not have a simple answer. It is more or less like wonder what must now do the Barcelona to be able to recover the quality of previous years (already more than one club would like to have “the crisis” the Barza, ending one of the 4 best clubs of Europe and the League of Spain in the Pocket)

As well, as the Barza is it can ask Pep; and the Team Foundation Server can see it in the Guide Visual Studio Team Foundation Server Planning Guide in CodePlex . This guide contains a series of recommendations for the installation and organization of a TFS2012-based environment, ranging from Hardware requirements to the organization suggested for environments of test, training, etc. As always a picture is worth more than 1001 words.
