[#KINECT] Error: After a few minutes my Kinect sensor is disconnected for the PC

Buenas,

a while ago the friend Omar asked me 5 minutes to ask me a question.Of course, in those moments I start to tremble, the questions of Omar, JuanLu, Roberto, etc. are that on one hand leave you thinking with the nose pointing to the South and also play me pride to provide light for the answer.

As well, Omar told me that they had an application in production with Kinect (1st fright) that had a strange behavior: after a few minutes of inactivity the sensor is disconnecting. [#KINECT] Error: despues de unos minutos se deconecta mi Kinect del PC

Buenas,

hace un rato el amigo Omar me pidió 5 minutos para hacerme una pregunta.Y claro, en esos momentos empiezo a temblar, las preguntas de Omar, JuanLu, Roberto, etc. son de las que por un lado te dejan pensando con la nariz apuntando al Sur y además me tocan el orgullo para aportar luz para la respuesta.

Pues bien, Omar me dijo que tenían una aplicación en producción con Kinect (1er susto) que tenía un comportamiento extraño: después de unos minutos de inactividad el sensor se desconectaba. Los fanáticos de las teorías conspiratorias seguramente apuntarán a un error de Kinect SDK, o a un problema con los drivers de Windows 8 en ARM (por más que esté fuera de contexto); pero a mi el instinto me llevo a sugerirle a Omar: ¿y no será el modo ahorro de energía que desactiva los puertos USB?

¡¡¡ Y era eso !!! Accediendo a las opciones de energía de Windows

Luego a las opciones avanzadas, seleccionamos la sección de “USB Settings”, la opción “USB selective suspend setting” y desactivamos esta opción:

Listo, no era problema de Kinect SDK, de drivers, ni nada … solo un poco de nuestro querido Windows.

[# WINDOWS8] HowTo: Open a command prompt with administrator privileges

Buenas,

today is to describe a few small to launch a console with administrator privileges. This HowTo is valid in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 obviously.

1. On the desktop, display the contextual menu and select the option "New Shortcut".

2 Write the command "cmd.exe" to the program to launch for the shortcut.

3. Once created the shortcut, select the same, display the contextual menu and access the properties of the shortcut.

4 Select the "Shortcut" tab

5 Press the "Advanced" button

[#WINDOWS8] HowTo: Abrir una consola de comandos con permisos de administrador

Buenas,

hoy toca describir unos pequeños para lanzar una consola con privilegios de administrador. Este HowTo es válido en Windows Vista, Windows 7 y obviamente Windows 8.

1. En el desktop, desplegar el menú contextual y seleccionar la opción “New Shortcut”.

2. Escribir el comando “cmd.exe” para el programa a lanzar por el acceso directo.

3. Una vez creado el acceso directo, seleccionar el mismo, desplegar el menú contextual y acceder a las propiedades del acceso directo.

4. Seleccionar la pestaña “Shortcut”

5. Presionar el botón “Advanced”

6. En el formulario de propiedades avanzadas, seleccionar la opción “Run as administrator”.

7. Done !!!

[# VS11] Installing Visual Studio 11 on Windows 7

[#VS11] Instalando Visual Studio 11 en Windows 7

Buenas,

ayer tocó mostrar el paso a paso de la instalación de Team Foundation 11 en un Windows 7, y hoy para completar un entorno de demo, pues instalaremos Visual Studio 11.

1. En primer lugar, un formulario muy simple de instalación. Solo hay que leer el EULA, y luego aceptar el mismo.

2. Si somos un poco curiosos, y queremos ver las opciones de instalación, pues tampoco hay tanto para seleccionar.

3. Lanzamos el instalador (que utilizará cerca de 8,2 GB) y a esperar un rato.

4. Después de un buen rato, pues el setup ha finalizado.

5. Lo siguiente que vemos cuando lanzamos Visual Studio 11, es la posibilidad de seleccionar el perfil con el que queremos trabajar, y además la cantidad de documentción que queremos instalar en local.

6. Comienza la carga de las configuraciones del usuario

7. Y una vez instalado ya podemos comenzar a trabajar con el mismo.
